So everybody says, yeah I’m great at asking questions. But are we really great at it?
Well we’ve got a test that’s gonna see if we’re great in today’s video.
Hey folks, Marcus Sheridan here, talking about our ability to ask great questions, the right question every time. Which matters because our listeners need to discover truths for themselves.
You talk to most people they say, yeah I’m really good at it. You talk to sales teams, you talk to management, they say yeah, yeah I’m really, really good.
But then when you test them, oftentimes that’s not the case.
So we’re gonna give you a super simple method, or test, or activity that you can do with your team today. You’re gonna love it if you apply it.
It is called the Question Only Game, and here’s how it works.
You get your team into partnerships, two people. One person asks a question.
Now the question pertains to your industry, something that you might hear all the time, maybe somebody on your sales team or somebody in customer service.
Now the other person, the presenter in this case, they’re only allowed to answer the question by asking questions, hence the Question Only Game, up until the point where they say, and that’s exactly what it is.
Now you say, I’m a little bit confused Marcus, how do you mean?
So let’s practice really, really quick.
Let’s use the question that I used to get all the time, Marcus, what is content marketing?
All right, that’s a good question. So I’m gonna pretend to be two people right now, try to stay with me.
Here is an example of the Question Only Game.
Marcus, what is content marketing?
Have you recently purchased something and really studied it out online?
Yeah, I that recently with a lawn mower.
Okay, and did you find a website that was really, really helpful?
Yeah, it told me everything that I wanted to know.
And what was it about that website that you feel like was just so great?
Well, it answered all my questions, it talked about prices, it talked about reviews, I felt like it was unbiased.
And I’m guessing you just coming back again and again because that was the place where you said, I can learn everything?
Yes, that was the place.
And that’s exactly what content marketing is.
You see how I did that?
Now you might say, that’s just a content marketing example. I don’t know if it would work like that.
Yes, of course it can work like that.
You see, too often we just tell the listener the answer. And because we just tell it to them, they don’t get a chance to walk through it, to see it, to envision it, and to get it.
Because unless we do it this way, it’s hard for that person to really have it sink in to the point where they can translate it to their team, where they could teach it to somebody else.
That’s the beauty of the Question Only Game.
And so when you’re ready to up your teams ability to ask questions, try this. It works.
And you will find that yeah, we’re getting pretty darn good at answering just the right question every time.
